The land that is now DeLeon Springs State Park has a rich history that dates back more than 6,000 years. It encompasses 600 acres with a headspring that flows at a constant 72 degree temperature. The spring connects to the Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge, which gives visitors access to 18,000 acres of lakes, creeks and marshes. DeLeon Springs offer many activities such as hiking, swimming, bird-watching, boat tours and kayaking. Visitors may encounter wildlife such as ospreys, manatees, otters and heron. Nature trails meander through forests of maples, magnolias, water hickories and rare yellow anise trees. Fishing, boating and swimming are allowed in designated areas only.
